KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has announced that the imbalance cost pass-through (ICPT) mechani *** will continue to be implemented for the period of July 1 until Dec 31, 2022.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri I *** ail Sabri Yaakob announced that the current water and electricity tariff rate for domestic users in Peninsular Malaysia will be maintained.
He said the government will cover subsidies worth RM5.8bil despite facing a sharp increase in fuel and other generation costs.
TNB, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, said the decision would address the significant increase in generation costs due to the higher fuel prices used for the supply of electricity during the period of Jan 1-June 30, 2022.
“TNB also wishes to inform that the impact of the ICPT implementation is neutral on TNB and will not have any effect on its business operations and financial position,” it added.
I *** ail Sabri said the rebate of 2 sen/kWh is maintained for all domestic consumers and no surcharge applies.
“There is no electricity tariff increase to domestic consumers in the Peninsula,” he said.
The imposition of a surcharge of 3.70 sen/kWh is maintained on commercial and industrial consumers.
